Women's Soccer Cruises to 3-0 Win Over Fredonia

BOX SCORE

Three early first half goals were all the Cardinals needed as the St. John Fisher College women's soccer cruised past SUNY Fredonia 3-0 in a non-conference game, Tuesday night at Growney Stadium.

With the win, Fisher climbs to 2-5, while the Blue Devils drop to 1-3-1.

The Cardinals controlled the tempo from the opening moments, peppering Fredonia goalie Hannah McGlinchey with shot after shot.  Taryn Guinta scored Fisher's first goal in the game's sixth minute when she beat her defender and blasted a shot that beat McGlinchey to put Fisher ahead 1-0.

Alexandra Rohloff put Fisher up by two goals when she one-timed a crossing pass from Chelsea Oberkrieser that found the back of the net.

Midway through the first half, the Cardinals were at it again as Rohloff beat her defender and fired a shot that hit the post, bouncing in front of the net to a waiting Oberkrieser who kicked home Fisher's third goal.

Fisher's defense was outstanding as it did not allow a Blue Devil shot the entire game.  The Fisher offense was firing on all cylinders, however, tallying 25 shots and 12 corner kick opportunities.

Brooke Seavitt picks up the win to improve to 2-3 on the season.

The Cardinals will return to action at 2 p.m. Saturday against Clarkson University in Potsdam, N.Y.
