BOX SCORE
The St. John Fisher College women's basketball team dropped its final game of the regular-season, as the Cardinals lost a 54-43 decision to visiting Stevens Institute of Technology on Saturday.
Despite the loss, Fisher (12-13 overall, 7-7 Empire 8) has qualified for the Empire 8 Conference Championship. The Cardinals will be the No. 4 seed and will take on top-seeded Ithaca College (23-2, 13-1) at 6 p.m. on Friday at Hartwick College. Fisher and Ithaca split their two-game series earlier this year, with the Cardinals losing in overtime in Ithaca, but beat the Bombers on their home court.
Fisher led by as many as nine in the first half and took a 26-21 lead into the locker room.
Fisher led 36-30 with 14:42 left in the second half, but the Ducks went on a 13-1 run over the next six minutes to take the lead for good.
Stevens forced Fisher to shoot just 2-for-15 from the floor over the final 14 minutes and finished the second half with a 25-12 advantage on the glass.
Mary Kate Cusack led Fisher on the night with 13 points, while
Brooke Seavitt added 11.
Portia Velasco, who scored 34 on Friday night, finished with just five points.
