Three Second Half Goals Lifts Women's Soccer Over Buffalo State

BOX SCORE

Three different players scored goals as the St. John Fisher College women's soccer team earned their third consecutive shutout win against the visiting Buffalo State Bengals, 3-0, Tuesday night at Growney Stadium.

With the win, Fisher moves to 6-7, while Buffalo falls to 6-4-1.

Alexandra Rohloff broke the tie near the midway point of the second half as she skirted down the sidelines and split two Buffalo State defenders to create space.  The Clarence, N.Y. native then booted the ball past the charging Bengal goaltender to give Fisher the 1-0 edge.

Molly Beaton scored Fisher's second goal in the 72nd minute when she kicked home a crossing ball off the foot of Taryn Guinta to extend the Cardinal's lead.

Fisher was back at it again in the game's waning moments when Chelsea Oberkrieser found Ciara Vitallo who scorched the ball into the back of the net tallying her first career goal in the process.

In the first frame of action, the Cardinals controlled the possession for much of the half, holding the visiting Bengals to only two shots.  Fisher peppered Buffalo State's goalkeeper with 10 shots, but were unable to find nylon as both teams played to a scoreless first half.

Brooke Seavitt picked up her third consecutive win.  Gabriella Cotungo had two saves in relief.

The Cardinals will return to play at 12 p.m. on Saturday against Alfred University in an Empire 8 matchup at Growney Stadium.
