Women's Soccer Shuts Out Elmira

BOX SCORE

Chelsea Oberkrieser scored the game's only goal as the St. John Fisher College women's soccer team blanked Elmira College 1-0 Saturday afternoon at Campus Field in Elmira, N.Y.

With the win, the Cardinals improve to 5-7 overall and even their conference record at 1-1.

The game's only goal came in the 25th minute of the first half when Oberkrieser launched a shot from long range that was just out of reach of Elmira's goaltender.

Elmira tried to even the score in the second half, but the Cardinals turned them away time and time again as Fisher only allowed three second half shots.

Brooke Seavitt earned her fourth shutout of the season after recording two saves.  Nicolette Nigro, Laura Burgstrom and Krista Pilla each tallied three shots in the win.

The visiting cardinals held a 19-7 shot advantage in the game.

The Cardinals will return to action at 7 p.m. on Tuesday when they host the Buffalo State Bengals at Growney Stadium.
