BOX SCORE
The St. John Fisher College women's soccer team surrendered three goals late in the second half as the Cardinals fell to Empire 8 rival, Nazareth College, Wednesday afternoon at Golden Flyer Field.
Â
With the loss, Fisher falls to 8-9 overall and 3-2 in the Empire 8. Nazareth improves to 5-1 in the conference standings.
Â
After a scoreless first half of play, both teams came out of the break looking to be aggressive on the offensive end. Fisher did its best to break the scoring drought, but it would be Nazareth that struck first, scoring the eventual game-winning goal in the 53
rd minute of play as Olivia Derleth kicked the ball past out the outstretched hands of
Brooke Seavitt.
Â
The Golden Flyers would pull away, adding two more goals late in the second frame to earn the 3-0 win.
Â
Chelsea Oberkrieser and
Alexandra Rohloff each tallied four shots in the loss, while
Krista Pilla,
Taryn Guinta,
Kaylee Gebhardt and
Laura Burgstrom each recorded one shot. Seavitt made five saves in net for the Cardinals.
Â
Fisher will return to action at 2 p.m. on Saturday as it battles Hartwick College in a crucial Empire 8 contest.
