Women's Soccer Taken Down by Fredonia

Box Score

The St. John Fisher College women's soccer team lost to the host Fredonia Blue Devils 5-1 on a rainy Tuesday night.  With the loss, Fisher falls to 3-2-2 on the season, while the Blue Devils improve to 5-1 overall.

The duo of Katie Kleine and Reilly Condidorio proved fatal to the Cardinals, as they teamed up for three of Fredonia's goals.

Fredonia, who is coming off a 1-0 win over 2011 NCAA quarterfinalist William Smith College, jumped out to an early lead just over two minutes into the contest.  Kleine scored off a pass from Condidorio, as the pass found a seam through the Cardinal defense and the shot went in on the left side.

Chelsea Oberkrieser evened things at 1-1 when she fired a shot in at 8:10.  However, the host team responded, scoring three goals to end the first 45 minutes.

Kristi Putzig scored Fredonia's second goal, before Kleine and Condidorio combined for another pair of goals, this time just 1:06 apart.  Kleine added the third tally for the Blue Devils at the 33:11 mark, with Condidorio adding her name to the goal column at 34:17.

Fredonia's Maria Green added the final goal in the 84th minute.

Fisher outshot the Blue Devils 18-14 in the game, but that was overshadowed by the eight saves from Fredonia goalkeeper Meaghan Meszaros compared to the one by the Cardinals. Sydney DeVitto and Jessica Plukas shared time in goal for the Cardinals, with Plukas replacing the starter in the 30th minute.

Laura Burgstrom, Hannah Gilbride and Alexandra Rohloff all took three shots to lead Fisher.

The Cardinals will return to action at 12 p.m. on Saturday when they host the Hartwick College Hawks.
