Cardinals Keep the Goals Coming in Win Over Albion

The St. John Fisher College women's soccer team closed out the Cyclone Kickoff Classic with a commanding 7-0 win over Albion College on Saturday.  With the win, Fisher leaves the tournament (hosted by Centenary College) with a 2-0 season record after outscoring opponents 12-2 over the two days.

The Cardinals wasted no time in this contest, as Chelsea Oberkrieser connected just 24 seconds into the game with a shot from the top of the box off a pass from Amanda Konieczny.

Then, in the fifth minute, Vicki Alfieri found mesh on a direct kick just outside the 18-yard box.  Minutes later, Alfieri scored her second of the day, unassisted, on a shot from the right side.

Fisher added three more goals in the first 45, with Alexandra Rohloff scoring her third of the season on a breakaway that was assisted by Heather Konieczny.   Then, freshman Molly Beaton scored back-to-back goals to push the Fisher lead to 6-0 entering the half.  On her first goal of the day, Beaton beat the Albion goal keeper, who came out to challenge, and was able to easily place the ball in the back of the net.

In the second half, Beaton earned her third point of the day when she assisted on the Cardinals final goal, which came from classmate Jamie Alloco.

Sydney DeVitto started the game for the Cardinals and made three saves in the winning effort.  Noel Peck replaced her, making one save in her time between the pipes. Fisher outshot the Britons 22-5 over the course of the game.

Fisher will return to Growney Stadium for its next contest, as they face The College at Brockport at 7 p.m. on Wednesday night.
