Mary Kate Cusack hit a 3-pointer from the left corner with 1.0 seconds left to give the Cardinals a 66-64 win in overtime over visiting Elmira College on Friday night.
With the win, Fisher improves to 2-0 in the Empire 8 Conference and 5-5 overall, while Elmira drops to 3-5, 0-2.
Fisher led 63-59 with 1:20 left in overtime after
Sydney Bloomstein hit two free throws, but Elmira came down and hit a 3-pointer from the top of the key to pull the Soaring Eagles to within one.
Fisher turned the ball over on its ensuing possession and Elmira took the lead at 64-63 after two free throws with 7.9 seconds left. The Cardinals inbounded the ball and point guard
Portia Velasco drove the length of the court and hit a wide-open Cusack, who knocked Fisher's lone 3-point field goal of the night.
The Cardinals trailed 56-52 late in regulation. Velasco hit a runner with just under one minute left and after forcing a turnover on the defensive end, hit a jumper from the right elbow to force the extra period.
Fisher led by as many as nine points in the game at 25-16 with six minutes left in the first, but the Soaring Eagles, however, went on a 9-0 run to end the half to tie the game at 25s going into the break.
Velasco, who scored just two points in the first half, finished with a team-high 16. She also led her team with five steals and four assists.
Camaryn Buckner recorded her third double-double of the year, finishing with a career-high 16 rebounds, while adding 13 points. Bloomstein finished with 12 points.
Fisher will return action at 2 p.m. on Sunday at Rochester Institute of Technology. The Cardinals defeated R.I.T. by 18 last Thursday in the Wendy's College Classic.
