The St. John Fisher College women's soccer team dropped its Empire 8 Conference season-opener, losing 1-0 to host Rochester Institute of Technology on Tuesday.

The Tigers (5-0, 1-0) scored the game's only goal in the 43rd minute after sophomore goalkeeper Jessica Plukas made an initial save, but couldn't prevent the rebound from being knocked into the back of the net.

Plukas led the Cardinals (1-3-1, 0-1) with eight saves, including five in the first half.

Fisher will return to action on Saturday and will host Union College at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
