Women's Basketball Falls In Season-Opener

The St. John Fisher College women's basketball dropped its season-opener, losing 67-56 to SUNY Cortland on Friday in the Skidmore Invitational.
 
Fisher led throughout most of the first half, but the Red Dragons went on a 7-2 run over the final 2:18, tying the game at 31-31 at intermission.
 
The Cardinals took a 35-33 lead on a Colleen Maloney 3-pointer three minutes into the second half, but Fisher never lead again.
Maloney led the way for Fisher, totaling 20 points, seven rebounds, three blocked shots.
 
Kristi Jeffres and Meghan Soja each finished with eight points.
 
Fisher will return action on Saturday against SUNY Oneonta.
