The St. John Fisher College women's soccer team saw
a 3-1 defeat against SUNY Fredonia on Tuesday. Freshman
Catherine Mibaum scored Fisher's lone goal. The women fall to 1-3 on the season.
Although shots remained even until the last minute and a half of play, Fredonia dominated the field, capitalizing on three golden opportunities.
Blue Devil Lauren Heilweil opened scoring 12 minutes into the first half off a strong pass from Lyz Debrow to kick off a string of three goals in just over six minutes. Reilly Condidorio took a cross from Melissa Cummiskey, knocking it into the left side of the net just three minutes later, followed closely by Julie LaPolla's header.
Fisher retaliated soon after, when Mibaum saw the opening and put in her second goal of the season, with no assistance.
The second half went scoreless. The Cardinals took control of the field for most of play, narrowly missing a chance to put the win within one point when junior
Megan Gee fired one off the right post. Fisher and Fredonia traded possession for the rest of the relatively quiet half, neither team being able to put it in the net.
Goalkeeper
Ashley Martin made nine saves in the loss. The win went to Meaghan Meszaros.
Fisher is back in action Saturday when they hit the road to compete in the Union Tournament.
