The St. John Fisher College women's soccer team
defeated visiting Rochester Institute of Technology 3-0 on Wednesday night. This Empire 8 match-up was the first for Fisher on the season, improving its record to 2-4-1 overall and 1-0 in the Conference. The victory also snapped a six-game winless-streak against the Tigers, dating back to 2002.

After a scoreless first half in which the Cardinals controlled the tempo, outshooting R.I.T. 15-1, the second half saw the shot discrepancy come to fruition. Early in the second half Fisher scored their first of three goals in a 26 minute span on a header by senior
Mary Dougherty. Dougherty collected a ricocheted shot off the crossbar from teammate
Joelle Joseph and put it past the keeper.

The Cardinals scored just under 16 minutes later off a corner kick. Midfielder
Liz Lawrence took the corner kick and sent it through the box to
Megan Gee who nudged it past the goalie's right side.

Fisher's final goal came from
Amanda Siebert when she settled a free kick from freshman
Mary Sheehan and put the ball in the lower left hand corner of the net.
The Cardinals will enjoy a week off before they continue conference play, traveling down the road to face East Ave rival Nazareth College at 4 p.m.
