Women's Basketball Runs Past R.I.T.

Mary Kate Comfort grabbed 13 rebounds in Tuesday's win.
The St. John Fisher College women's basketball team opened the second half with a 17-2 run and cruised to a 59-36 win over host Rochester Institute of Technology on Tuesday in an Empire 8 Conference matchup.
 
With the win, Fisher improves to 6-2 overall and 2-1 in the Empire 8.
 
The Cardinals led by just five at 23-18 after shooting just 26.7% over the opening 20 minutes, but scored the first 11 points of the second half and held the Tigers scoreless for the opening 5:46.
 
Freshman Kristi Jeffres and junior Kristen Taliento led the Cardinals with 10 points each.

Stephanie Sweeney came through with an all-around performance, totaling eight points, eight assists and seven rebounds.
 
Mary Kate Comfort tallied 13 rebounds and eight points, while Marissa Canori finished with seven points.
 
Christine Isselhard finished with a career-high five steals.
 
 
Fisher will return to action at 6 p.m. on Friday, as the Cardinals travel to Utica College for another Empire 8 contest.
