The St. John Fisher College women's basketball team fell to 9-4 on the year with a 56-42 loss to University of Rochester, the nation's No. 1 ranked team, in the finals of the JPMorgan Chase Scholarship Tournament at Rochester Institute of Technology.

Mary Kate Comfort (10 points, four rebounds) and Stephanie Sweeney (eight points, four assists) each received First Team All-Tournament honors.

After the two squads battled back and forth over the opening minutes of action, Rochester built a seven-point lead, 13-6, with a 9-2 spurt that spanned 3:19. The Cardinals, who trailed by as many as nine points in the first half, battled back though, answering with a 9-0 rally in which four different players scored. With 6:47 remaining, Fisher's run tied the score at 17.

Playing in its seventh consecutive JPMorgan Chase Scholarship Tournament final, Rochester ended the half on a 10-3 run and took a seven point lead into the locker room, 27-20. Fisher shot just 25.9% from the floor in the opening 20 minutes (7-for-27), including 20.0% from 3-point range (1-of-5), while the top-ranked and top-seeded Yellowjackets shot 37.0% (10-for-27) and 40.0% (2-of-5), respectively.

Rochester doubled its halftime advantage and led by 14, 41-26, in the first 10 minutes of the final period, outscoring the Cardinals 14-6. Although the Cardinals cut the lead to seven with a 10-2 run over the next five minutes (43-36), Fisher got no closer and Rochester claimed its sixth Chase title in the last seven years, including a Tournament-record four in a row, with 13 of the game's final 19 points.

Megan Tubbs notched nine points, five assists, and four rebounds for the Cardinals, who will take on Cazenovia College at 6 p.m. on Wednesday.
