Women's Basketball Advances In Chase Tournament

Second-seeded St. John Fisher College came through with 58-45 win over No. 7 Rochester Institute of Technology on Tuesday in the opening round of the 16th Annual Women's Basketball JPMorgan Chase Scholarship Tournament at Nazareth College.
 
With the win, Fisher advances to the semifinals of the tournament and will play No. 3 Nazareth College  at 8:15 p.m. on Thursday at R.I.T.
 
Tonight's win marks the 15th time in the tournament's 16-year history that the Cardinals have won their opening round game.
 
Fisher led 9-8 with 9:58 left in the first half, but the Cardinals went on an 11-0 run over the next four minutes to take command.
 
Mary Kate Comfort led the Cardinals with a season-high 18 points on 9-for-13 shooting from the floor.
 
Freshman Kayleigh Comfort came off the bench and finished with nine points and a career-high four blocked shots.  Kristen Taliento added nine points..
 
Christine Isselhard led Fisher with seven rebounds.
