Six-Game Skid Snapped in Women's Soccer Win Over Brockport

The Cardinals halted a six-game slide with their win over Brockport.
BOXSCORE

The St. John Fisher College women's soccer team snapped a six-game winless streak with a 1-0 win over visiting SUNY Brockport under the lights of Growney Stadium on Tuesday night.

The Cardinals controlled the ball for much of the first half but came away empty until the opening minutes of the second half. On a cleared ball near midfield, senior Kelly Zeppetella made a touch on a ball and was off to the races, beating a defender before slipping a shot into the lower right corner to give Fisher a 1-0 lead that held up for the remainder of the game.

The Golden Eagles surged back in the final minutes though, and had several shots to knot the score that sailed just wide of Fisher keeper Ashley Martin, who stopped six shots over the 90 minutes.

Zeppetella now ranks as the Cardinals' leading scorer on the season with two goals and two assists.
Fisher will return to action on Saturday at 3 p.m. against University of Rochester.
