The St. John Fisher College 
women's soccer team lost 4-1 to host Rochester Institute of Technology on Wednesday in the Empire 8 Conference season-opener for both teams.   With the loss, Fisher falls to 1-5 overall, 0-1 Empire 8.
The Cardinals trailed early on, but tied the game midway through the first half as 
Mary Dougherty shot the ball into the upper-right corner from 30 yards out on the left wing.  Senior 
Kelly Zeppetella assisted on the goal.
With the game tied at 1-1 at halftime, R.I.T. scored two goals in the first 10 minutes of the second half to take control.
Junior goalie 
Ashley Martin made five saves in the loss.
Fisher will return to action on Saturday at Stevens Institute of Technology.
