All 15 players scored for the St. John Fisher College women's basketball team, as the host Cardinals cruised to an 80-12 win over Hilbert College in the opening round of the Courtyard-Marriott Invitational on Friday. With the win, Fisher (2-0) advances to the championship game and will play St. Vincent College at 3 p.m. on Saturday.
Fisher led 17-5 early on, but went on a 30-0 run over the final 12:19 of the first half and never looked back. Meagan Tubbs shot 6-for-7 from the floor, including 3-for-3 from 3-point range and finished with 15 points. Freshmen Kayleigh Comfort and Kristi Jeffres each scored eight points. Comfort also grabbed seven rebounds, while Jeffres finished with five. Sophomore Chrysa Lyons also scored eight points.
Stephanie Sweeney tallied six points, six steals and three assists. Colleen Maloney finished with six points and two blocks in eight minutes of action, while Kristen Taliento also scored six. Freshman Meghan Soja led Fisher with five assists, while junior Christine Isselhard grabbed a career-high 10 rebounds.
Molly Dougherty, Nichole Clark, Amanda Lax, Mary Kate Comfort, Marissa Canori and Kellie Leathem also scored in the win.
