Fisher Defeats the Soaring Eagles

The St. John Fisher women's soccer team improved to 5-8-1 overall and 3-3 in the Empire 8 Conference on Saturday with their 1-0 win over Elmira College. For the second straight game the Cardinals have held its opponents scoreless, both times against Empire 8 foes.

Fisher only needed one goal to get the win on Saturday, and that goal came early in the second half from sophomore Megan Gee. In just the 2nd minute of the second half, Kelly Zeppetella sent a pass through the middle of the box to Gee, who buried the goal in the left corner of the net. Cardinal goalie Ashley Martin recorded a shutout win with 5 saves in the game.

The Cardinals will return to action this Wednesday at 4 p.m. when they travel to take on the Bombers of Ithaca.
