The St. John Fisher College women's soccer team was defeated by
East Avenue rival Nazareth College 2-0 Wednesday night. The rain-delayed loss dropped the Cardinals' record to 2-8 overall and 0-3 in the Empire 8 Conference.
Nazareth came out and scored early, going up 1-0 on a Jessica Jones goal from the top left corner of the box in the fourth minute of play. The score remained 1-0 for the rest of the first half, with Fisher's best attempt coming in the 26
th minute when
Kelly Zeppetella went one on one with the Golden Flyers' goalie and missed narrowly, sending a shot that ricocheted off the left post.
In the second half the Golden Flyers added another goal when Ashley Clinton bounced a header in on a cross from Jones. The goal came just minutes before a rain delay stalled the game for a 20-minute period.
Fisher will return to action on Saturday when they travel to Clarkson to face the Golden Knights at noon in a non-conference matchup.
