The St. John Fisher College volleyball team went 1-1 in the second half of the Empire 8 Crossover Tournament hosted by Alfred University. The Cardinals opened up the action with a 3-0 (30-6, 30-14, 30-30-17) win over the host Saxons, and finished off the night with a 3-0 (30-28, 30-28, 30-23) loss to Nazareth College.
Fisher's Hannah Cordes (Cazenovia/Cazenovia) recorded 34 assists, seven kills and five aces in the win over Alfred, while Jenna Waldron (Windsor/Windsor) recorded a match-high 30 digs. Junior middle blocker Kayleigh Cassetta (Cicero North-Syracuse/Liverpool) added 11 kills and five blocks in the victory.
Alyssa Ziobrowski (Lewiston-Porter/Lewiston) recorded a double-double in the loss to Nazareth, posting 19 digs and 12 kills. Jessie Pegler (Churchville-Chili/Rochester) tallied 16 digs, seven kills and five blocks.
Fisher (13-14, 4-2 Empire 8) will return to action tomorrow to take on Empire 8 Conference opponents Ithaca College and Stevens Institute.
