St. John Fisher University Athletics

Sean Williams (New Castle, Del. / Sanford School) of the St. John Fisher College’s men’s basketball team has been named the College’s Male Athlete of the Week after helping the Cardinals to a win over Utica College after a close loss against The Sage Colleges.

Against the Gators, the Cardinals were down seven points in the second half but not for long after the sophomore led an 11-3 run with seven points. Williams had a team-high 17 points along with four assists and three steals on the defensive end. While playing Utica College the New Castle native finished with 19 points and set a career-high by knocking down five 3-pointers. Fisher would squeak by at the end with a defensive stand that led them to an 84-82 victory. 

The Cardinals are set to host Nazareth College Saturday at 2 p.m. in part two of the Battle of the Beaks inside Manning and Napier Varsity Gymnasium on Bobby Wanzer Court. It will also be Senior Day as the Cardinals look to finish the regular season at home with a win.
