St. John Fisher University Athletics

Sarah Kubik (Orchard Park/Orchard Park) of the nationally-ranked St. John Fisher College softball team has been named the College’s Female Athlete of the Week following her performance at the Empire 8 Softball Championship last weekend.

Kubik, who was named the championship’s Most Valuable Player, led the Cardinals to their second straight Empire 8 Crown and third consecutive appearance in the NCAA Division III Championship.

The junior infielder combined to go 3-for-5 at the plate with two home runs, five RBI, four runs scored and three walks as Fisher cruise through the tournament with three wins.

The Cardinals, who have now posted 15 straight wins, will find out who and where they will play at 1 p.m. on Monday as part of the NCAA Selection Show.
