Peter Girardi (Cicero/Cicero-North Syracuse) has been named the St. John Fisher College Male Athlete of the Week for the week ending February 25th, 2018.
Girardi and the Cardinals claimed the Empire 8 Championship title on Saturday for the first time since the 2014-15 campaign, as the team competed in a back-and-forth meet with Stevens Institute of Technology. The team accumulated a total of 161 points at the meet hosted by Houghton College.
The senior was awarded the Track Athlete of the Meet after posting several impressive finishes. Girardi took first place in the 60-meter hurdles event, clocking in at 8.11 seconds. The time set a new facility, meet and St. John Fisher record in the respective event.
Girardi also posted a first place time of 49.02 seconds in the 400-meter dash.
In the 200-meter dash event the Cicero native would pick up fourth place with a 22.70 second time, just one hundredth of a second behind the third place finisher.
Girardi and his teammates will compete on Friday, March 2nd and Saturday, March 3rd in the Atlantic Regional Meet in Ithaca, New York.
