PITTSFORD, N.Y., March 30, 2015 – St. John Fisher College’s Pat McGrath (Whitesboro/Deerfield) of the men’s tennis team has been named as the College’s Male Athlete of the Week for the week ending March 29, 2015.
The senior went 4-0 as the Cardinals defeated Oswego State and Utica College on Thursday and Sunday, respectively. With the wins, McGrath improves to 6-3 overall at both second singles and first doubles.
McGrath outlasted his Oswego opponent 6-4, 4-6, 7-5 at second singles then paired up with Jacob Zarzycki to win first doubles 8-2. On Sunday, McGrath topped his Utica opponent 6-1, 6-4 and nearly blanked the first doubles team with Zarzycki, winning 8-1.
Fisher continues Empire 8 play at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Nazareth College.
