Meghan Burns (Delmar, Bethlehem) of the St. John Fisher College softball team has been named the College’s Female Athlete of the Week after helping guide the Cardinals to 7-1 week.

Burns finished the week 15-32 (.469 average) along with blasting three home runs, four doubles and one triple.

The junior leadoff started the week quickly with nine RBI in the first four games. That span included Burns going 4-4 with three RBI in a 16-4 win over RIT in the nightcap game.

Burns also provided the pivotal run support for Fisher in its game one win over Alfred over Alfred on Saturday. Trailing 5-3 in the top of the sixth inning, Burns stepped in for a bases-clearing triple to put Fisher ahead for good 6-5.

Fisher’s week includes two home doubleheaders the first coming on 4/16 against the College at Brockport and the second a conference showdown with Ithaca on Friday 4/18.
