St. John Fisher University Athletics

Alex Sausville of the men’s basketball team has been named the St. John Fisher College Male Athlete of the Week for the week ending January 8^th, 2017.

In the waning moments of Fisher’s contest against Alfred University on Saturday, Sausville came in clutch. With the score tied at 59 apiece and just 37 seconds left in regulation, the junior drove to the basket and turned in a lay up to put the Cardinals up two. After the Saxons sank a pair of free throws to even it up again, Fisher had one possession to regain the lead. The team put its trust in the hands of Sausville as Michael D’Amico found him on the perimeter. The Schenectady native tossed up a three and it found the hoop, giving Fisher the go-ahead points with just five seconds remaining.

Sausville finished the weekend with 17 points over the two-game span and shot 64% from the field (7-for-11).  The guard hauled in a pair of rebounds as well.

Fisher continues its conference play with a pair of Empire 8 matchups this week. The team will square off against Elmira College at 8 p.m. on Tuesday on Bobby Wanzer Court before hosting Ithaca College at 8 p.m. on Thursday.
