St. John Fisher College’s Lauren Wesolowski (Lancaster/St. Mary’s) of the women’s softball team has been named as the College’s Female Athlete of the Week for the week ending March 9, 2014.
The Cardinals are coming off an impressive start to the season after posting an 8-2 record last week, as Fisher took on some of the region’s premier programs in Fort Myers, Florida.
Wesolowski took to the circle five times for Fisher including four starts, going 3-1 in that span with four complete games. The Lancaster native allowed only five earned runs on 23 hits in 30.1 innings, giving her a 1.16 ERA on the season. Wesolowski held opposing batters to a .221 average and accounted for 20 strikeouts, while allowing only two walks all week.
The Cardinals will enjoy a short break before returning to action at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, March 25 with a doubleheader against Medaille College in Buffalo, N.Y.
