St. John Fisher College’s Justin D’Amato (Canandaigua/Canandaigua Academy) has been named the College’s Male Athlete of the Week for the week ending March 16, 2014.

D’Amato, a senior All-American on the College’s baseball team, took to the hill against the University of Mary Washington on Sunday and did not disappoint.  The Canandaigua native pitched six strong innings, allowing seven hits and two earned runs while striking out three to raise his career record to 30-4 as the Cardinals earned a 10-3 win in the opening game of a doubleheader.

A two-time Pitcher of the Year in the Empire 8, D’Amato is now 3-0 on the season after pitching to a 1.06 earned run average over 17.0 innings of work.

D’Amato and the rest of the baseball team will look to extend their program-best 8-1 start when they return to the field at 3 p.m. on Friday against Franklin and Marshall in Lancaster, PA.
