St. John Fisher University Athletics

Thad Wier (East Aurora/East Aurora) of the St. John Fisher College men’s golf team has been selected as the College’s Male Athlete of the Week for the week ending September 22, 2013.

Wier is the overall leader of the Empire 8 Championship after two rounds combining for a 147, three strokes ahead of the second -place finisher.  The senior carded a two over 73 on Saturday and a three over 74 Sunday at the Yahnundasis Golf Club in New Hartford.

Fisher currently leads the field by six strokes over the University of Scranton.  The final two rounds of the Empire 8 Championship will be played in April and the winning team will earn an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Championship.

The Cardinals, return to the course next Monday and Tuesday for the Gordin Collegiate Classic held at the Columbus Country Club.
