St. John Fisher University Athletics

St. John Fisher College’s Mason Judd (Palmyra-Macedon/Macedon) of the football team has been named the College’s Male Athlete of the Week for the week ending October 2, 2011.

Judd was also recognized as the Defensive Player of the Week by the Empire 8 Conference.

This week, Fisher defeated Alfred University 17-3 in a pivotal Empire 8 Conference matchup.  Judd played a key role in the Cardinals defense and helped shut down the Saxons, who came into the game ranked 10^th in the AFCA Poll. 

Judd recovered a fumble deep in Fisher territory and batted down passes in key situations, including one on third down and another on fourth down, as the Cardinals defeated Alfred for the first time since 2007. He finished with three tackles and three pass deflections as the Cardinals’ defense forced six turnovers and held the Saxons to 151 yards fewer than their season average.

Fisher will return to action at 1 p.m. on Saturday when it travels to Ithaca College to take on the Bombers.
