St. John Fisher College has named Ryan McGinnis (Chittenango/Chittenango) of the men’s golf team as the College’s Male Athlete of the Week for the week ending March 27, 2011.

McGinnis led the Cardinals to a first-place finish at the McDaniel Spring Invitational over the weekend.

The freshman was Fisher’s top golfer over the week, finishing in seventh place with a two-day total of 151 (+7).   After carding a 77 on Saturday, McGinnis shot a 2-over-par 74, lifting the Cardinals to victory.

Fisher shot a 317 on Saturday and was in third place going into Sunday’s final round. Four of Fisher’s five golfers went lower on Sunday and scored a 308, finishing at 625, five shots better than runner-up, Swarthmore College.

Fisher will return to action this weekend at the Mid-Atlantic Regional in Hershey, Penn.
