St. John Fisher College’s Austin Buckley (Baldswinsville/Charles W. Baker) has been named as the Fisher Male Athlete of the Week for the week ending October 10, 2010.

In a 3-2 win over Wells College on Tuesday, Buckley tallied one assist on Stefan John’s third goal of the year, which gave the Cardinals a 2-0 lead. He also fired two shots on goal.

For the season, the sophomore defender has one goal and one assist. His lone goal was the game-winner over Ithaca College on October 2nd. He scored in the first overtime period off a rebound to give the Cardinals a 1-0 win in their Empire 8 opener.

The Cardinals, now 2-8-2, return to action Wednesday at 7 p.m. against St. Lawrence University. The game will be played at the Watertown Fairgrounds. The Cardinals then return home for their final game of 2010 at Growney Stadium, when Fisher hosts SUNY Geneseo at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, October 27th. The Cardinals will honor their eight seniors.
