Corey Haas (Cuba-Rushford/Cuba) of the men’s golf team has been selected as the College’s Male Athlete of the Week for the week ending April 19.
The junior golfer started the week carding a 75 in the final round of the Hershey Cup on Monday. Haas, alongside teammate Devin Solar, finished tied for 11th overall with a two-day total of 154.
The Cardinals returned to Hershey Country Club in Hershey, Pa., for the second half of the Empire 8 Conference Championship over the weekend, where Haas placed first among all individuals. He shot a 73 on Saturday and a 71 on Sunday to finish his four rounds at 19-above par to earn Empire 8 Player of the Year honors.
Fisher finished with a four-round total of 1,217 – 50 strokes better than runner-up Moravian College – to win the title on Sunday. It is the fifth straight year Fisher has won the Empire 8 Championship and the 10th time in the last 11 years.
With the win, Fisher earns an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Championship on May 12-15 at the Grandover Resort in Greensboro, N.C.
