St. John Fisher University Athletics

St. John Fisher College’s Alex Battle (Mercy/Honeoye Falls) of the women’s golf team has been named as the St. John Fisher College Female Athlete of the Week for the week ending September 19, 2010.

Battle was named as the Empire 8 Conference Player of the Year after finishing first at this past weekend’s Empire 8 Championship first round held at Blue Heron Golf Club. The junior from Honeoye Falls shot an 84 on day one before recording a 78 on day two to wrap up the weekend with a tournament-best score of 162.

The second round of Empire 8 Championships is help in April of 2011. Last season, Battle placed second overall in the Championships.

The Cardinals return to action this weekend at the William Smith Tournament, held at Clifton Springs Country Club.
