ALBION, M.I. – The St. John Fisher women's volleyball team fell to Albion College, 3-1, on Saturday in the final day of the Albion Tournament. The Cardinals now hold a 1-3 overall record.
How it Happen
The Cardinals and Britons traded blows throughout the opening set, with Fisher ultimately taking the set, 27-25. Junior outside hitter Lydia Fraser led the Cardinals' offense with six kills, while sophomore outside hitter Kaylna Dannenberg and senior outside hitter Kaylene Noble each recorded three kills.
In the second set, the Cardinals and Britons went back and forth until the score was tied at 4-4, when Albion went on an 8-0 run. Fisher responded later in the set with a 12-2 run, with Dannenberg and Noble each recording two kills during the stretch. Noble finished the set with six kills, but itt was not enough as Albion took the second set, 26-24.
The Third set continued the back-and-forth okay, with both teams trading runs throughout. The Cardinals went on a 6-1 run late in the set, but Albion held on to take the set, 25-22. Carly Frank led the Britons' offense with seven kills in the set.
Albion took control in the fourth and final set. Midway through the set, the Britons went on a 7-1 run to secure a 25-14 victory and take the match, 3-1.
