SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. — The St. John Fisher women's volleyball team secured a 3-1 victory over Skidmore College on Friday. The Cardinals improve to 2-3 on the season, while the Thoroughbreds fall to 4-2.
How It Happened
The Cardinals and Thoroughbreds traded points throughout the opening set before Skidmore pulled away midway through. Skidmore went on an 11-3 run, highlighted by two kills from Chloe Heitman, to take control of the set. Skidmore went on to win 25-21. Heitman finished the set with six kills, while sophomore outside hitter Kalyna Dannenberg and junior outside hitter Lydia Fraser each recorded four kills for Fisher.
The second set featured another back-and-forth battle. With the score tied 8-8, the Cardinals used a 9-2 run to take a 17-10 lead. Skidmore battled back, eventually tying the set at 25-25. Fisher then closed out the set with four points to earn a 29-27 victory. Dannenberg recorded seven kills in the set, while senior middle blocker Ana Gutman and Fraser each added a kill during the decisive stretch.
Fisher continued to build momentum in the third set, opening with a 6-2 run. The Cardinals maintained control throughout the set and closed on a 4-1 run to secure a 25-17 win. Dannenberg again led the offense with three kills.
The Cardinals secured the match in the fourth and final set with a 25-18 victory. After the teams were tied at 3-3, Fisher used a 6-2 run to take the lead. The Cardinals maintained their advantage before closing the set on a 5-2 run. Dannenberg and senior outside hitter Kaylene Noble each recorded four kills, while Fraser added three.

Dannenberg recorded 18 kills, marking her second 18-kill performance of the season. She also hit .484, her best hitting percentage of the season.
