Women's Soccer Extends Winning Streak To Five Matches

ELMIRA, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher women's soccer team extended its winning streak to five with a 4-0 shutout victory over Elmira on Wednesday evening at Campus Field.

The Cardinals, enjoying their best start to a season since the 1980s, improved to 8-1 overall and 4-0 in Empire 8 Conference play. Elmira dropped to 2-6-1 overall and 2-1-1 in league play.

St. John Fisher finished the contest with a decisive 23-4 advantage in shots (7-0 in shots on goal). Goalkeeper Isabella Ayers played the full 90 minutes and earned credit for her fifth shutout of the season.

How It Happened

The Cardinals got the scoring started less than five minutes into the contest on sophomore forward Morgan Tara's third goal of the season. Junior forward Emily Woolingham doubled the advantage in the 25th minute, finishing a feed from fellow junior forward Olivia Kalil for her team-leading eighth goal of the season.

The Cardinals padded their lead with two more tallies in the second half as Kalil and sophomore defender Gianna Conklin found the back of the net. Kalil scored her sixth goal in Fisher's last three games in the 47th minute, and Conklin buried her second collegiate goal in the 89th minute.
