PITTSFORD, N.Y. – St. John Fisher University Athletics Communications Coordinator Mike Hogan has earned national recognition in the College Sports Communicators' 2025–26 Fred Stabley Jr. Writing Contest.
CSC announced Monday that Hogan's feature on former Fisher football head coach Paul Vosburgh – "'I wouldn't be where I am today if it weren't for Paul': Inside Paul Vosburgh's St. John Fisher Legacy" – has been selected as the College Division's General Blog/Feature Story of the Year. The piece first won the District I award in May, advancing it to the national ballot.
Published this past October, Hogan's story highlights Vosburgh's 34-year career at Fisher and the profound impact he had on his players and staff members. It is told through the voices of former assistant coaches and players – including Blaise Faggiano, Ian Pace, Curt Fitzpatrick and Rob Kramer – who shared personal anecdotes illustrating Vosburgh's character.
The Fred Stabley Jr. Writing Contest annually honors the top writing and storytelling from CSC members across the country in both NCAA Division I and College divisions. Nearly 500 entries were submitted across seven categories for the 2025–26 competition, and all national category winners were considered for National Story of the Year.
Hogan joined St. John Fisher in August 2024 after a year with Cornell University, where he began his career in athletics communications. Before transitioning to the collegiate communications field, he worked as a sports journalist covering Wisconsin Badgers football and men's basketball.
Hogan graduated from St. Bonaventure University's Jandoli School of Communication in 2021. He was the 61st recipient of the Mark Hellinger Award, presented annually to the senior who demonstrates academic excellence and shows genuine promise in journalism and mass communications.
