PITTSFORD, N.Y. – On the strength of strong seasons from its spring teams, St. John Fisher University finished second in the 2025-26 Empire 8 Conference Commissioner's Cup standings after sitting in fourth place through the winter.

Winners of 11 Empire 8 titles during the 2025-26 season, SUNY Geneseo claimed the Commissioner's Cup for the second consecutive year with 168 points and composite score of 0.894. Fisher, which claimed eight conference championships this year, finished with 162.75 points and a 0.764 composite score.

The Cardinals had the most successful spring season in the conference, amassing 70 of a possible 76 points to surge up the standings. Fisher won conference titles in men's and women's lacrosse, men's golf, men's tennis and men's volleyball in addition to runner-up finishes in softball, baseball and women's outdoor track and field. In the fall, the Cardinals claimed E8 championships in women's soccer, women's volleyball and women's golf.

St. John Fisher has finished no lower than second in the final Commissioner's Cup standings every year since 2017-18 and had placed first five years in a row entering the 2024-25 season.

Commissioner's Cup points are awarded based on each team's finish in the Empire 8 conference standings after the regular season and postseason. Points are awarded on a scale dependent upon the number of schools that sponsor the sport (affiliate members are not calculated into the point scale). A team's regular-season finish will be added to its postseason finish and divided by two for the final total for that sport.

Teams tied for a position in the regular season standings are ranked based on tiebreaker scenarios. The actual number of points earned is then divided by the number of possible points for each school based on conference-sponsored sports to determine their overall percentage.
