PITTSFORD, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher women's lacrosse team will travel to Middlebury, Vermont, for a matchup against Western Connecticut State University in the first round of the 2026 NCAA Division III Tournament at 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 9.
The Cardinals (15-4) will face the Wolves (15-3) at host Middlebury College's Peter Kohn Field. The winner would advance to face Middlebury (18-0), winners of the last four national championships, in the second-round game, scheduled for 1 p.m. on Sunday, May 10.
Saturday's contest will mark the first-ever matchup between St. John Fisher and WestConn.
The Cardinals took down SUNY Geneseo 12-0 on Saturday afternoon at Growney Stadium to win their 14th consecutive Empire 8 Conference title and secure an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. Fisher has reached the NCAA Tournament 14 seasons in a row and 16 times overall since 2007.
WestConn captured its second straight Little East title with an 11-9 victory over Southern Maine on Saturday to earn an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. The Wolves have qualified for the national tournament four times in the last six seasons.
The Cardinals have won an NCAA Tournament game in each of the last three seasons. They reached the Final Four for the first time in program history in 2021.
