PITTSFORD, N.Y. – St. John Fisher senior Maddie Lowney added to her spectacular lot of accolades on Friday as the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association announced its All-America teams for the 2026 season.
Lowney, for the second straight year, claimed a second-team spot. With her selection, she joined Melissa Leonhard (2012 and 2013) and former teammate Sydney Carpenter (2023, 2024 and 2025) as the program's third multi-time IWLCA All-American.
The greatest defender in program history, Lowney led the Cardinals this season with 64 caused turnovers, 85 draw controls and 67 ground ball recoveries. She also contributed three goals on the offensive end.
Lowney surpassed St. John Fisher Athletics Hall of Fame inductee Laurie Quackenbush for both the program and Empire 8 Conference career records for caused turnovers in April. A few weeks later, she broke the program's single‑season caused turnovers record, one she had set just last year. She finished her collegiate career with 167 caused turnovers (2.1 per game).
Lowney is the only player in program history to eclipse 120 caused turnovers, 200 ground balls and 200 draw controls. She ranks third in Fisher history in ground balls (231) and draw controls (273).
Over the past month, Lowney has been named Empire 8 Defensive Player of the Year for the second straight season, earned first-team IWLCA All-Region honors for the fourth consecutive year and garnered first-team All-America honors from the USA Lacrosse Magazine.
