PITTSFORD, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher University men's lacrosse team's home game against Alfred University on Saturday will mark the team's Donate Life Game in recognition of National Donate Life Month.
Special Lax For Life shirts will be available for purchase at the Growney Stadium entrances for $20, with proceeds benefiting the Finger Lakes Donor Recovery Network (FLDRN). National Donate Life Month raises awareness about organ, eye, and tissue donation, encourages registration and honors donors who have saved lives.
FLDRN is the region's federally designated non‑profit organ procurement organization, serving as a critical link between donor families and patients awaiting life‑saving organ transplants or life‑enhancing tissue and corneal transplants. The organization coordinates donation efforts across 20 counties throughout the Finger Lakes, Central and Upstate New York regions.
The cause holds special meaning for the Cardinals' program. Head coach Dave Dobbins' firstborn daughter, Colleen, saved two children through organ donation in March 2011.
Saturday's game between the Cardinals and the Saxons is scheduled for 1 p.m.
