PITTSFORD, N.Y. – Graduated St. John Fisher University men's lacrosse student-athletes Lane Edinger and Matt Slowinski have been named Division III Scholar All-Americans by the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Coaches Association (USILA).
To earn USILA Scholar All-America honors, a student-athlete must be a senior academically and possess a grade point average of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale in addition to being an All-American, All-Region or outstanding player in their respective conference. The Cardinals have had 17 USILA Scholar All-Americans since 2009.
Edinger, who studied finance, graduated in May with a 3.85 GPA. A USILA Honorable Mention All-American and first-team All-Empire 8 Conference honoree, the midfielder capped his collegiate career with his most productive season, tallying a team-leading 64 points on 43 goals and 21 assists.
An outstanding achiever in the classroom throughout his four years as a Cardinal, Slowinski studied biology and graduated with a 4.0 GPA. He played in all 20 games this season as a short-stick defensive midfielder, earning third-team All-Empire 8 and USILA Honorable Mention All-America honors. He won the Empire 8 Torchbearer Award – presented to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade-point average (GPA) participating in the championship game for each E8 sport – for the second consecutive year in May.
