Men's Tennis Tops Alfred For Fifth Win In A Row

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher men's tennis team continued to roll through the Empire 8 Conference's West Division on Friday evening with a 5-2 triumph over Alfred at the Midtown Athletic Club. 

The Cardinals, who have won five consecutive dual matches for the first time since the 2018-19 season, improved to 6-3 overall and 4-0 in league play with the victory. Alfred fell to 7-4 and 2-1, respectively. 

The Cardinals earned the doubles point, claiming two of the three matches. Junior Tyler Hernandez and senior Will Chubb won their team-leading sixth match of the year, taking down Ricardo Alvarez and  Anlun Zwerver 6-3 in first doubles. Freshmen Matthew Lincoln and Sebastian Dix won 6-2 over Matt Bittel and Josh Erickson in third doubles. 

Hernandez and Dix improved to 6-3 and won their fourth consecutive singles matches. Senior Sean Brown moved to 4-0, while sophomore Charlie Roberts pushed his record to 4-2.
