Men's Tennis Ends Spring Break Slate With 6-1 Win Over Alma

ORLANDO, Fla. – The St. John Fisher men's tennis team ended its spring break trip with a 6-1 victory over Alma College on Thursday afternoon. The Cardinals improved to 2-3 on the year with the victory.

St. John Fisher earned the doubles point with wins from junior Tyler Hernandez/senior Will Chubb and freshman Finn Whitaker/sophomore Charlie Roberts. Hernandez and Chubb beat Jake Lasceski and Ashton Trnka 6-2 in first doubles, while Whitaker and Roberts teamed up for a 6-3 win over Alex Jonas and John Laxton in second doubles. 

The Cardinals won five of six singles matches, with Hernandez (first singles) and freshmen Matthew Lincoln (third singles) and Marshall Harrishburg (sixth singles) pulling out three-setters for their second victories of the year. 

Hernandez fell 6-3 to Lasceski in the first set before taking the second 7-5 and the third 10-6.

Lincoln, who faced Eli Festerling, won the first set 6-2, dropped the second 6-3 and claimed the match victory with a 10-4 win in the third. 

Harrishburg came from behind against Daniel Hickey, winning the second set 6-3 and the tie-breaker 10-6 after dropping the opening frame 6-3. 

Jacob McNew earned Alma's lone point of the day with a victory in fifth singles. 

The contest marked Fisher's final non-league dual of the season.
