PITTSFORD, N.Y. – Junior Hayden Penna placed first in the pole vault as the St. John Fisher men's track and field team began competition in the Empire 8 Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships on Friday at Nazareth's Golisano Training Center. The Cardinals stand in fourth place with 30 team points after the first night of competition, trailing Utica (36), SUNY Brockport (45) and SUNY Geneseo (112).
Penna recorded a mark of 4.92 meters, a meet record, to claim the E8 indoor pole vault title for the third consecutive year. Penna has recorded four marks of 4.90 meters or better this season.

Jace Stuart recorded a personal best and nearly broke Fisher's indoor record with a 4:15.73 mile time.

Sophomores Trystan Biller and Oren Welch qualified for the final in the 60-meter hurdles. Biller placed fifth at 8.35 seconds, while Welch placed fourth with a personal-best time of 8.54.

Biller (7.04s), freshman Elijah Burnley (7.06) and senior Ethan Fox (7.12) qualified for the final in the 60-meter run.
