PITTSFORD, N.Y. – The No. 23 Ithaca College wrestling team used a run of five consecutive victories to earn a 29-12 SUNYAC dual win over St. John Fisher on Wednesday night at the Manning & Napier Varsity Gym.
The Cardinals dropped to 8-3 overall (4-2 SUNYAC) in dual action with the loss, while the Bombers improved to 13-6 (4-0 SUNYAC) with their eighth consecutive victory.
The Cardinals won three of the first five bouts to build a six-point lead on the team scoreboard. Freshman Daniel Visha opened the dual with an 11-4 win by decision over Andre Aparo at 125 pounds, and after Ithaca victories at 133 and 141 pounds, sophomore Trevor Bishop pinned Brandon Ribeiro in 4:09 at 149 pounds to put the Cardinals ahead 9-6. The victory marked Bishop's 21st of the season and ninth via fall.
Junior Paul Lichter recorded his 20th win of the season, a 9-4 decision over Akio Sanders at 157 pounds, to extend Fisher's lead to 12-6.
Ithaca got right back in it with a fall from Chris Reddy at 165 pounds and took a 16-12 lead on a technical fall by Konard Parker at 174. The Bombers finished the Cardinals off with a fall from Xavier Pommells at 184, a decision from Ryan Galka at 197 and a major decision from Kamdyn Dorchester at 285.
