PURCHASE, N.Y. – Goaltender Sebastian Woods made a career-high 50 saves to lead the St. John Fisher men's ice hockey team (10-13-0, 4-11-0 UCHC) to a 3-0 victory over Manhattanville (4-17-1, 3-10-0) on Friday night. The Cardinals snapped a six-game losing streak with the win.Â
How it Happen
Just past the midway point of the first period, the Cardinals struck first when Elijah Devereaux set up Mitchell Ferras for the game's opening goal.
The Cardinals doubled their lead more than five minutes into the second period as Mike Markowski scored off a feed from Brendan Merriman. Jonathan Sonedecker sealed the victory with less than three minutes remaining in regulation, scoring an unassisted empty-net goal to put the game out of reach.
Woods, who recorded his second shutout of the season, made the second-most saves by a UCHC goaltender in a game this season. Nazareth's Mason Joseph (54 saves against Hamilton in December) holds the top mark.Â
