PITTSFORD, N.Y. – Three St. John Fisher student-athletes have earned weekly accolades for their performances last week, the Empire 8 Conference and United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC) announced on Monday.
Brynn Bacak (Freshman, Women's Ice Hockey) – Empire 8/UCHC Goaltender of the Week
Bacak stopped 50 of the 51 shots she faced as the Cardinals swept Manhattanville for their first two United Collegiate Hockey Conference victories of the season over the weekend. She made 24 saves in a 3-1 win on Friday night and 26 in a 1-0 victory on Saturday morning as part of her third collegiate shutout.
Bacak has claimed Empire 8 weekly honors three times and UCHC weekly honors four times this season.
Keira Reckley (Freshman, Women's Ice Hockey) – UCHC Rookie of the Week
Reckley had a three-point weekend as St. John Fisher swept Manhattanville at the Rochester Ice Center. She had two assists in a 3-1 victory on Friday and accounted for the only goal on Saturday, scoring a short-handed, unassisted tally just 1:21 into the third period as the Cardinals earned a 1-0 win to earn a six-point weekend.
Brandon Kaplan (Senior, Men's Track and Field) – Empire 8 Field Athlete of the Week
Kaplan had the headline result for the St. John Fisher track and field team in the RIT Invite on Friday, as he set the school record with a first-place mark of 18.82 meters in the weight throw. That mark also ranks sixth in all of Division III to date this season.
